Matrices that are improvements over the originals? Yes, I believe there are some:
9/26/1981 Buffalo - the matrix is a huge improvement over the aud, plus brings in the low end from the spotty board, making two mediocre recordings into one pretty decent one.
Charlie's SB/Auf composite work on 9/06/1980 may not be perfect, but is by far the best source for this show. Maybe that's not exactly a matrix, though ...
9/17/1982 Portland - the matrix is the best source, but of course I've never heard a first set board.
